Deep Indigo Denim Shirt Jacket
Please see bottom of description for size measurements.
Oh Boy! Each season, I try to bring something new to the site for you guys. It isn't always easy, you know it is just me here! But I found a sumptuous fabric with the perfect amount of heft to it. I knew I had to stop what I was doing and figure out what to do with it..... You guys almost got a tote bag. Almost got a dopp kit.... Almost got a wallet....
But around the same time, I was going for a hike in the redwoods near my house and wishing that I had something 'easier' to throw on over my outfit.... it wasn't a coat or jacket that I was looking for. I wanted an extra layer because it gets chilly under those giant trees, but didn't want the extra weight of a jacket.
The fresh air & serenity of the woods must have cleared my head because inspiration struck me hard that day; and my shirt jacket was soon born.
I got down to Texas & immediately started working with the masters on the jacket. First we opened up the specifications of my shirts, keeping the tailored silhouette but with a little more room to allow for layering. Then the collar and collar stand were bulked up to become stronger and more protective against the elements. I am in love with the tiny bit of whiskey colored cord that pops out from the interior collar stand on the denim style. In LOVE!
Then it was all about the pockets & I wanted as many as I could get. There are two deep chest pockets covered by a button front flap for security. And then two deep, angled pockets in front that add both style & function.
The Blue & White plaid fabric of my other shirt jacket kicked off the inspiration for the design of this style. But when we added a hit of denim to the collar stand, I knew I needed to create a denim version of this style.
I searched everywhere for the perfect weight & color. It had to be durable but not bulky or restrictive. And it had to be the deepest, inkiest shade of indigo possible - so that it looks cool even if paired with a pair of jeans (which is all I wear).
Speaking of jeans, I wanted to treat this jacket as if it were a pair of jeans and added the golden thread to the topstitches for a killer contrast.
Made in USA
The fit is pretty true to size and if you should follow whatever size you wear in my shirts to choose your size for the shirt jacket.
