Vintage Stocker & Yale Model 184 Military Watch
I have always had a thing for old watches. There is something about the character of an old watch that just defines "Old School Cool" for me. I've just thought it was so much cooler to discover a beautiful old watch than to just walk into a store and buy a new one. There is a strength in knowing how old they are and seeing them faithfully keep perfect time. There is a magic in thinking of the life that this watch had before it came into your hands. And there is a beauty in knowing that some things just never go out of style.
When I was growing up, my dad never splurged on anything. His focus was on taking care of us kids. But the one thing that he loved was a great watch. I think I inherited that from him. As Blade + Blue is really a 'Thank - You' letter to my father for all that he taught us about being men, I couldn't be more excited and proud than to share this collection of beautiful found watches with you.
This is a vintage model 184 watch by Stocker & Yale. I rarely come across this brand, so I was really excited to come across this beautiful watch.
I believe this style dates back to between 1984-1986.
This is a classic military style watch (Stocker & Yale did supply the US Military with watches and compasses) with a black dial with white luminous time markers. The military hours are also noted next to the hour markers.
There is an army green canvas strap which looks pretty sweet (I can't confirm that this is original).
The face, bezel and case are in near perfect condition. The watch measures just over 1.5" across, including the crown.
The back of the case is marked:
Watch Wrist/General Purpose/MIL-W-483740 Type/Stocker & Yale 80640 CODE/MODEL 184 Sandy. (there is also a series of numbers that my bad eyes can't make out!).
This watch has been serviced and keeps great time and date.
This watch requires daily winding.
